Software Developer – Automation Platform
Do you want to build something that actually gets used – every day, by engineers around the world? In this role, you play an important part in empowering engineers to design and manufacture products smarter, as you help shape the automation platform behind it.
Why Sandvik Coromant?
You’re part of a global frontrunner in advanced manufacturing where bold ideas meet real impact. Here, technology is built close to the business and used at scale.
- Your work supports engineers worldwide in designing and manufacturing products.
- Collaboration sits at the core – across disciplines, cultures, and geographies.
- Innovation is hands-on, with room to explore new technologies and ways of working.
About the job
You’re part of a collaborative, agile team where software meets real-world engineering challenges. Working closely with engineers, you help develop and evolve the YAPP platform – a custom-built programming platform that automates product design, modeling, and production across CAD, CAM, and CMM. The team has a strong local presence in Sandviken and works globally, continuously evolving the platform toward more scalable, cloud-based solutions.
Job responsibilities
- Build and evolve a primarily Java-based automation platform.
- Translate real engineering challenges into smart, automated solutions.
- Collaborate in an agile, cross-functional team with colleagues around the world.
- Share knowledge through code reviews, pair programming, and everyday collaboration.
- Explore and experiment with new technologies and approaches, including AI-supported development.
- Contribute to making complex engineering work more efficient and scalable.
Location and flexibility
The location for this role is one of Sandvik Coromant’s offices in Sandviken, Gimo, or Stockholm. We find work-life balance important and offer flexibility in work hours, remote work options, wellness benefits and strong parental support.
Your profile
You bring solid experience in Java development and a background in engineering, software development, or similar. You combine a passion for programming with an interest in engineering – maybe you’ve worked in Siemens NX or in other ways with CAD, CAM or CMM. It's a bonus if you have experience with cloud technologies, DevOps, or modern development tools, such as Azure, Kubernetes, Docker containers, GitHub or AI-supported ways of working. You communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing.
You’re curious, collaborative, and comfortable navigating complex problems together with others. New ideas energize you, and learning comes naturally – especially when technology, engineering, and teamwork intersect.
If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you.
